Grateful for Jake

Introducing a person who significantly influenced me and my book

I could not have written my book without support, encouragement and advice from numerous people. One of those is Douglas “Jake” Jacobsen.

I first met Jake in 2015 when I was a fellow in the Central PA Clergy Leadership Program which he and his wife Rhonda directed. From 2015–2017, they made a significant impact in my life and that of the other fellows. I was thrilled when in 2020 Jake agreed to be on my dissertation team.

Jake and Rhonda taught with distinction and faithfulness at Messiah University, where they influenced thousands of students. Learn more about Jake here. Individually and together, Jake and Rhonda have written numerous books and articles, reaching thousands more. Most of all, Jake and Rhonda are incredibly warm, loving people. In my book I tell the story of how one of my dissertation advisors proposed a significant revision to my dissertation outline. That was Jake. It made all the difference. I am deeply grateful.
